I came across an article this morning that said "Is Having Large Families Irresponsible?". It drew my attention and I read through it. Here is a link if you would like to know what I'm referring to: http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/is-having-large-families--irresponsible----191024787.html (copy and paste into your URL) Sr. David Attenborough claims that having large families is irresponsible in this day and age and even puts support behind the Chinese one-child law.
Over population is something that was first introduced by Thomas Malthus a British scholar and Anglican clergyman. He believed that the planets rapid increase of people would strip the earth of it's natural resources. It was then accepted among many people when Margaret Sanger who founded the American Birth Control League (which later became Planned Parenthood.) convinced many women that it was unfair that they weren't able to control the number of children they had, and being pregnant at an inconvenient time was easily fixed by disposing of the unborn child, or preventing it's life in the first place. Ms. Sanger believed that there was a "higher" race and that people that were not of that race could be easily diminished by preventing their offspring. Nazi eugenics if you will. (The term eugenics-meaning “good births”-was coined by Francis Galton, a cousin of Charles Darwin. Eugenics, he believed, would encourage more children from the fit, and fewer or no children from the unfit, with the ultimate goal of engineering the evolutionary ascent of man.)
Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
"As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."
